What is an implant?

implant.jpgAn implant in other words an artificial root of a tooth. is used to place crowns and bridges without having to polish neighbouring teeth, or to provide more stable base for partial and complete dentures.

Usually an implant is built up of two elements:

  • The internal part is a small screw made of titan (material that is tolerated by human organism and does not cause allergic reactions)
  • The external part is a base for recreation of the tooth or other prosthetics based on implants.

In shape an implant resembles a natural root of the tooth, as its main role is replacing it. An implant is placed in lower or upper jaw. After painless merging with the bone it becomes a natural root of the tooth. It doesn’t cause any discomfort as it behaves the same as natural tooth.
